Can You help me with one thing? There was a greeting in a Hungarian movie Werckmeister harmóniák, but I can't find it on Wiktionaries. Sounds like "csoko". It was used in short sentences "(That greeting), Erno-bacsi." "(That greeting), Pista-bacsi." Is that a shorter form of "csókolom" ([1] "Csókolom, like most Hungarian greetings, means both "hello" and "goodbye."")? Kubura2 (razgovor) 05:16, 13. rujna 2015. (CEST)
- Hi, it can be either the short form csók (/ˈt͡ʃoːk/, ‘kiss’ < csókolom /ˈt͡ʃoːkolom/ < kezét csókolom /ˈkɛzeːtt͡ʃoːkolom/ ‘I kiss your hand’) or just an elision such as /ˈt͡ʃoːk(l)om/ (similarly to English g'day).
