Re: Question
uredi[1] "By" is in Croatian translated as "pored" or "do", like in "stand by me" (stani pored mene, stani do mene) .
When in situations like "made by" or "created by", translation is different.
When "created by + person", than it is like "stvorio/stvorila/stvorilo (kreirao/kreirala/kreiralo) + nominative". Same is with "made by" (napravio/napravila/napravilo + accusative).
But, "napravio sam" + accusative has two meanings: napraviti = 1) make something (new) 2) repair something (=popraviti)
I hope this helps. Kubura2 (razgovor) 05:58, 16. srpnja 2016. (CEST)
[2] "This book was written by XYZ" = "Ovu je knjigu napisao XYZ" ("by" does not appear at all).
"The goal scored by XYZ decided about the team's win." = "Pogodak koji je postigao XYZ odlučio je o pobjedi." ("team's win/victory" here is not in the spirit of Croatian language, we just say "win/victory" ) - "by" does not appear at all in the translation. Grammar fall replaces it.
"The goal scored by knee decided the game" = "Pogodak postignut koljenom odlučio je utakmicu". "by" does not appear in the translation.
"Stand by me" = "stani do mene/stani pored mene". "do" and "pored" are words similar by meanings and they are translations for "by".
If You noticed, passive form is not used so much in the standard Croatian language, we prefer active form. Exceptions are Croatian iuristic language, where the use of passive is necessity. Kubura2 (razgovor) 05:42, 19. kolovoza 2016. (CEST)

Podrijetlo i porijeklo
